UPDATE | CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Three people are dead in two chain reaction crashes on Interstate 80. That’s what state police say happened on I-80, early Tuesday morning in Centre County. The deadly, chain reaction crashes occurred just after midnight about a mile past the I-80 Milesburg Exit in the westbound lane. Police say a car was first disabled, on the roadway shoulder, after colliding with a tractor trailer.
Last month, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania ruled against two Clearfield County hunting clubs who had filed a lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Game Commission over surveillance issues. The court found that the Game Commission was allowed to use cameras on the clubs’ property without a warrant because of legislation that dates back to the 1920's. Now the clubs’ lawyers plan to appeal. The Institute for Justice has been representing the Punxsutawney and Pitch Pine Hunting Clubs since December of 2021.
LEBANON, Tenn. (WKRC) - Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino said the chain, famous for its Old Country Store, is "just not as relevant as we once were," amid struggling sales. According to The New York Post, the company's stock has been falling over the past week after Masino, who became the company's CEO nine months ago, claimed Cracker Barrel is "just not as relevant" as it used to be. Per The Post, Cracker Barrel has seen a decline in traffic over the last decade.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — Hot cars can become deadly for children in a matter of minutes, according to recent studies. It almost happened to a 3-year-old girl in West Palm Beach over the weekend. Raul Rielo-Fernandez, 42, was arrested and accused of leaving his daughter in the backseat of his parked SUV without the engine running to go shopping. It was a scorching hot day, police said. The incident occurred in the Sam’s Club parking lot, located off 45th Street in West Palm Beach Saturday afternoon.
A Somerset County man is one of several Americans facing more than a decade in prison on a Caribbean Island. This after custom officials found hunting ammunition accidentally left in their luggage, violating a relatively new law there. HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — As part of Black History Month, 6 News is celebrating the life of an African-American man from Blair County who changed medicine forever. In 1893, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams performed the first successful open-heart surgery in the world. He was born in Hollidaysburg in 1856. Hollidaysburg Mayor Joe Dodson says Dr. Williams followed his father's footsteps and became a barber in Chicago. Williams eventually worked his way into Chicago medical school, and later opened a hospital in the city.
IRVINE, Calif. (TND) — A 50-year-old man who worked for UPS as a delivery driver was shot and killed inside his delivery truck. Expedito Cuesta De Leon was found slumped over in the driver's seat when police responded to the area of an industrial park in Irvine after they received multiple reports of gunshots Thursday afternoon. De Leon had multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries, stated Irvine police. The victim was reportedly on his lunch break when he was shot.
CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Five people were injured after seeking shelter from an Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF) 1 tornado in a rural part of Culpeper County, Virginia late Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service's (NWS) Sterling, Va. Office. The five were inside a large shed in the Rixeyville area that overturned due to a 95 mph tornado that touched down on the west side of Dunkard Church Road near Eggbornsville Road at 9:27 p.
Altoona, PA (WJAC) — Fire officials in Blair County say seven people were displaced early Wednesday morning following an apartment fire along 6th Avenue in the city of Altoona. 911 officials say crews were dispatched to the blaze around 7 a.m. According to Altoona Deputy Fire Chief Michael Hawksworth, eight total apartments were involved in the fire. Officials added that two people were transported from the scene, including a firefighter, and were taken to UPMC Altoona for further evaluation.
