On Tuesday, parents received a letter informing them of their child's participation in a brief survey to assist the district in uncovering and addressing the social and emotional barrier that affects the wellbeing of the students.
UPDATECENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — According to state police in Centre County, one person was injured in Tuesday's crash along Route 322 near Boalsburg. Troopers say the crash occurred just before 3:30 p.m. when the driver of a passenger vehicle crossed the center line and struck a gasoline tanker truck. Investigators say the driver of the passenger vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to UPMC Altoona. State police add that the driver will be cited for traffic violations.
WORTH TWP, Pa. (WJAC) — State police said they are looking for a man who stole $100 worth of merchandise from an adult store. They said the theft happened on Oct. 21 around 4 p.m. at the EZ Adult Playtime Boutique in Worth Township. They’ve released a photo of the man they said was observed stealing the items. Westmoreland County, PA — Authorities in Westmoreland County say the owner of a Pennsylvania eatery was reportedly shot and killed outside his own restaurant Thursday morning in Lower Burrell. Investigators say just after 9 a.m., the owner of Mogie’s Pub, David Magill, was shot outside his business and later died while en route to the hospital. Officials say a nearby patrolman reportedly heard the gunshots and found Magill with a gunshot wound to his torso.
Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections say a staff member at SCI Houtzdale is facing charges, accused of smuggling contraband into the facility. Authorities say they began investigating 41-year-old Neil Rudy after prison officials say they received information that he had been providing contraband to a "network of inmates." Upon further investigation, officials learned that Rudy, who worked as a food service employee for the prison, was allegedly paid over $10,000 to smuggle Suboxone and synthetic cannabinoids into the facility.
HUNTINGDON - The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has confirmed an employee was attacked Sunday by an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Smithfield facility. According to an official, an employee at the Huntingdon location sounded a personal alarm, which alerted additional staff who arrived and saw the inmate assaulting the employee. The inmate was removed and placed in custody and the employee was taken to the hospital and has since been released.
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A 19-year-old in California had the FBI tracking him down, after officials say he made numerous "swatting" calls in Central PA. According to Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) in Newville, Big Spring High School was evacuated on Nov. 30 for a reported bomb threat. After authorities investigated the scene, they luckily found no credible threat on the school's grounds.
