Penn State parking garage to partially reopen on Monday, university says

UPDATE |

Penn State Transportation officials announced Friday afternoon that the Eisenhower Parking Deck will partially reopen to the public on Monday following the sinkhole that was discovered earlier this week.

Officials say the north section of the parking structure will remain closed.

The university says the parking garage will be accessible by traveling east on Eisenhower Road from Shortlidge Road.

Penn State Transportation officials announced Friday that the Eisenhower Parking Deck will remain closed following this week's sinkhole along Eisenhower Road.

Authorities say the parking garage, Eisenhower Road and the adjacent Yellow F lot will remain closed until further notice.

As students and faculty are returning to campus this week for the fall semester, Wednesday's sinkhole created a logistical nightmare for everyone on campus and stranded both faculty and visitors for several hours.

The cause of the sinkhole is still being investigated at this time.

Officials are also asking permit holders for the Yellow F lot to park at the West Deck.

There are also other detours in place for visitors, students and staff, and more information can be found on the university's website.

University officials say they hope to have another update on the status of the Eisenhower Parking Deck by late Friday afternoon.
