Nanty Glo Park and Pool open for business
NANTY GLO- Tons of people crowded the Nanty Glo Park and Pool Tuesday as the temperatures continued to rise.
The pool manager said the pool opened later into the year because repairs had to be made beforehand.
Mary Swope, a new hire from Indiana, said the borough helped pay for new filters, plumbing and a new chlorinator.
"Those are some of the major things that needed done," said Swope.
Swope said after that, prisoners volunteered to help with some finishing touches.
"It wouldn’t have been possible without them. They painted, fixed picnic tables and they helped us move things. They did a great job," said Swope.
The pool officially opened on June 22.
"We’ve had such great, positive response from the community so far," said Swope.
Swimmers told 6 News the pool is better than ever.
"They repainted and got new seats and new umbrellas," said Nanty Glo resident Marie Newman.
"I think it's nicer. More professional," said Monica Breth, Nanty Glo resident.
The pool has two slides, a diving board and a baby pool.
Swope said it is $3 a day to use the pool.
"It's a hidden gem in Cambria County," said Swope.
